Truck Suspension Lift Kit FAQ: Fitment, Safety and Warranty
A safe lift starts with an exact vehicle-specific kit, the manufacturer’s current instructions and a complete plan for tires, alignment, travel and electronic systems. A suspension lift, leveling kit and body lift change different parts of the vehicle. None guarantees a particular tire size, ground clearance or warranty result across every truck.

Frequently asked questions
How much lift do I need?
Work backward from the exact truck, intended tire dimensions, wheel width/offset, terrain and permanent accessory weight. More height increases the number of geometry, travel, driveline and electronic-system checks. Choose the smallest validated package that meets the use case.
Will a lift fit larger tires?
Not by itself. Clearance depends on actual tire dimensions, wheel offset, caster, body mounts, fender liners and suspension position through full steering and travel. Use the kit maker’s fitment notes as a starting point, then verify the combination physically.
Can I install it myself?
Only if the product instructions permit it and the installer has the specified tools, lifting equipment and experience. Many kits call for professional installation. Springs store hazardous energy; alignment, torque and brake/ABS-line routing are safety-critical.
Will it affect handling?
It can. Raising the vehicle’s center of gravity and changing tire size, tire mass, or track width can affect steering response, braking, and rollover resistance. ReadyLIFT’s instructions warn that modified vehicles may handle differently and require reduced speeds and different driving techniques. Test cautiously after installation.
Does a lift void the vehicle warranty?
An aftermarket part does not automatically cancel the whole warranty. The FTC says a manufacturer or dealer may deny coverage for damage it proves was caused by a defective aftermarket part or improper installation. Keep the kit instructions, invoice, alignment sheet and maintenance records.
What work is required afterward?
Follow the exact instructions. Typical application-specific steps can include alignment, headlamp aim, ADAS checks, re-torque, driveline inspection and clearance checks at compression, droop and steering lock. Do not treat this list as a substitute for the kit manual.
What should I budget?
Price the complete system, not a generic online range: kit, required supporting parts, professional labor, alignment, tires/wheels, calibration and follow-up service. Written quotes age better than universal price claims.
