The Details: This system boasts Carli specific, blueprinted, King 2.5” shocks on all four corners. In an effort to provide customers with the best product, we designed a custom piston to determine proper base flow rates to ensure the shock works well in the heavy duty truck platform; we then tuned the shocks around the custom pistons based on the only thing that matters to us, seat-of-the-pants feel. We round off ALL our King shocks with shafts machined and polished from a solid piece of 17-4 Stainless. Unlike King’s standard shafts, there is no coating to wear off, weather is far less likely to hurt them and if there is a small chip, you can round the edges with emery cloth to ensure the seal housing isn’t damaged as they’re not brittle like the stock, hardened shafts. The shocks are finished with King oil good to -55* F. Note that all King shocks are built with a plated steel body. If subjected to inclement weather for extended periods, we recommend wrapping your shocks in 3M to provide a moisture barrier that’s replaceable.

The included Adjustable Track Bar recenters the axle laterally at the taller ride height, Carli reservoir mounts hold the 9” Remote Reservoirs on display over the front tire and E-Brake Line Relocation Brackets ensure plenty of clearance for the oversized rear shocks. Further, ride quality can be substantially increased with the addition of our Torsion Sway Bar. We recommend a 35” tire on a wheel that’s no more than 9” wide with 5.5”-6” Backspace. An 18” diameter wheel will be best to ensure optimal ride quality (more rubber = better small bump compliance) and an unloaded tire pressure of 45F/40R is recommended. The addition of a Carli Low-Mount Steering Stabilizer is recommended for any tire over factory size. For more details, see our article on wheel and tire selection and tire pressures:

Tires and Wheels: How Do They Affect My Ride?

**This system will NOT be upgradeable to any other Carli Suspension Systems.** It’s designed to be a solution for customers wanting a quality, big-shock system boasting huge off-road capability, minimal lift and NO reduction in payload or hauling capacity. We recommend slight eccentric bolt compensation to correct caster after the lift as there are no Radius Arm Drops included. For this reason, customers may experience a slight bow in the coil spring. We did not experience a coil bow in any of our test trucks but it’s possible at the 2.5” lift height without a Radius Arm Drop Bracket. A Radius Arm Drop Bracket can be added to alleviate bow and recenter the caster adjustment if bow is encountered. This system will result in tight and responsive, sports-car like handling; the 3” Suspension Systems will ride softer in the rear given the included reduced capacity rear springs.

The Backcountry 2.0 system is designed for people seeking the best ride on and off-road quality on a budget; basically, the Leveling Kit for those that want to have a little dirt-road fun in their 8,500lb truck without losing the on-road ride quality or usability for which the truck was designed. You’re no longer limited to the highway while gravel roads become uninteresting as you can drive them at speed with one hand on the wheel. The 2.5” lift height doesn’t require the front or rear geometry correction of our 3” Systems.

Utilizing Carli SPEC 2.0″ Diameter, Remote Reservoir shocks, we’ve developed a tune that delivers all around comfort and ride quality designed for on-road, in town, highway, towing/hauling as well as slow to mid speed off road use. The remote reservoir Carli SPEC 2.0 boasts 6063 Aluminum construction, anodized body for corrosion resistance, 5/8″ hardened steel chrome plated shaft, full serviceability & rebuildability and are built with 1-peice bushings in the 6061 billet rod-ends. These shocks are spec’d with a premium 5WT oil to balance lubricity, consistent damping and the widest available range in temperature variation. We back these with a 1-year warranty, serviced by Carli.

The rear shocks are also included with this system and have been custom tuned to maximize the ride quality for the factory rear coil springs. As the rear springs remain unmodified, load capacity is maintained while predictability is improved. For those that aren’t looking for massive increase in travel or big shocks but still desire a level stance and improved ride quality and handling characteristics, on and off-road, this is the perfect kit.

The front axle will be slightly pulled to the Driver’s side following installation of the lift; this can be corrected with the addition of our Adjustable Track Bar. Further, ride quality can be substantially increased with the addition of our Torsion Sway Bar. We recommend a 35” tire on a wheel that’s no more than 9” wide with 5.5”-6” Backspace. An 18” diameter wheel will be best to ensure optimal ride quality (more rubber = better small bump compliance) and an unloaded tire pressure of 45F/40R is recommended. Customers can purchase the Pintop leveling shock package for a huge boost in on-road control and off-road performance as well as ancillary components compatible with this lift height but there isn’t compatibility between the 2.5″ leveling and 3″ lift systems.

We recommend slight eccentric bolt compensation to correct caster after the lift as there are no Radius Arm Drops. For this reason, customers may experience a slight bow in the coil spring. We did not experience a coil bow in any of our test trucks but it’s possible at the 2.5” lift height without a Radius Arm Drop Bracket.

Low-Mount Steering Stabilizer

Radius Arm Drop Bracket Option

*OPTIONAL* – The Carli Leveling Systems do NOT include radius arm drop brackets as the 2.5″ lift height can still achieve proper caster by maxing the factory caster adjustment. Adding these Radius Arm Drop Brackets will lower the arm pivot point to account for the lift height opening the full range of caster adjustment and correcting spring pressures to ensure NO bowing of the coil spring. Although these are not required, they are recommended.
