Bilstein 1.5–3″ Front Assembled Coilovers with Rear Shocks and Coils for 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner

Part: BK4R9602ASB

This complete suspension kit is designed for 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner (3rd Gen) owners looking for a properly engineered lift with excellent on-road control and off-road capability.
It combines Bilstein monotube shocks with Old Man Emu (OME) and ICON coil spring options to dial in the correct lift height and load capacity based on how your 4Runner is actually built.

What’s Included

  • (2) Front Bilstein shocks, pre-assembled with selected front coil springs
  • (2) Rear Bilstein shocks
  • (1) Set of front coil springs (OME – choice required)
  • (1) Set of rear coil springs (OME or ICON – choice required)

Front Coil Spring Options (Lift Height & Load)

  • OME 2880: Stock front weight, approximately 1.5″ lift
  • OME 2881: Stock front weight, approximately 2″–2.5″ lift
  • OME 2883: For 200+ lbs of additional front weight (steel bumper, winch), approximately 2.5″–3″ lift

Rear Coil Spring Options

  • OME 2906: Light duty, approximately 2″ lift
  • OME 2890: 500 lb constant load, approximately 2″ lift
  • OME 2891: 660 lb heavy load, approximately 2″–2.5″ lift
  • ICON 53015: Approximately 1″ lift

Front Coilover Configuration (Critical)

  • Front Bilstein coilovers are shipped and must be installed on the 1st clip (lowest setting).
  • Do NOT raise the snap-ring above clip 1.
  • Increasing the clip height in combination with lift coils will result in excessive lift.
  • Setting the clip higher than position 1 will void the warranty and may cause suspension damage.

Important Installation Note

  • Depending on the selected coil springs, the two front springs may be slightly different heights.
  • The taller spring must be installed on the driver side to compensate for driver weight and/or the fuel tank.

Why This Kit Works

  • Proper lift without guesswork: Coil options allow you to match lift height to vehicle weight.
  • Bilstein monotube shocks: Excellent heat dissipation, fade resistance, and consistent damping.
  • OME & ICON coils: Proven spring rates for overland, daily driving, and loaded setups.
  • Balanced front and rear suspension: Avoids nose-high or rear-sagging setups.
  • Ideal for overlanding & off-road use: Handles bumpers, winches, camping gear, and trails with confidence.

Fitment

  • Vehicle: Toyota 4Runner
  • Model years: 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
  • Generation: 3rd Gen (1996–2002)

Alignment & Setup

  • A professional alignment is required after installation.
  • Lift heights above ~2.5″ may require additional supporting components (such as adjustable panhard bar, differential drop, or aftermarket UCAs) depending on usage.

This kit is ideal for 3rd Gen 4Runner owners who want a properly matched suspension system—not a generic lift—whether the vehicle is stock, lightly built, or running heavy front and rear loads.
